Everything a hiker's heart desires

WHERE THE DOLOMITES BEGIN
At the heart of the hiking paradise, where the Dolomites begin, is the species-rich Trudner Horn Nature Park and the Schwarz-Weiss long-distance hiking trail. At the Trudner Line, the Porphyry mountains connect with the Dolomite mountains. Numerous hiking trails around Altrei are just waiting to be explored.
The fascinating Bletterbach Gorge (verlinken), the Schwarzhorn and Weißhorn mountains and the Lagorai mountains bring you closer to nature with unique flora and fauna and whisk you away from everyday life.

On the Schwarz-Weiss long-distance hiking trail through the south of South Tyrol

“WALKING INSTEAD OF STANDING AND LINGERING INSTEAD OF HURRYING”
The almost 80 km long Schwarz-Weiss long-distance hiking trail, divided into six stages, leads from picturesque mountain villages such as Altrei through forests, meadows over peaks and through vineyards to the twin mountains Schwarzhorn and Weißhorn. On the way along the Truden/Trodena fault line, you will discover different languages, different rocks including limestone and porphyry, contrasts in nature between mountains and valleys and Alpine and Mediterranean landscapes.

GEOPARC Bletterbach

FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF DINOSAURS IN THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK
The GEOPARC Bletterbach is only 20 minutes away from the Langeshof and is a wonderful adventure for all visitors. In the impressive 8 km long and up to 400 m deep canyon, you embark on a geological journey into the past and, in addition to an exciting hike, there is also fascinating information about the formation of the Dolomites. You can also learn more about the different types of rock and the remains of plants and dinosaurs while outside or in the visitor centre. In summer, guided tours and themed hikes are offered from the beginning of May to the end of October.

Hiking tip for the summer

HIKE TO THE KRABES ALM
Starting from the Langeshof in the direction of the centre of the village, you will reach hiking trail 5, which leads along an old, cobbled path partly across meadows and partly through forests to Langen Moos. You then reach the Krabes Alm (1,540 m) via the forest path. From the alpine pasture, an almost flat path (marker no. 9) winds its way across flower-filled meadows, through larch forests past marshy hollows along the high plateau of the Gampen to the Zissattel (1452 m). You then return to Altrei via the pleasant forest path (marker no. 3). A trip to this alpine pasture is the perfect plan for a sunny summer day.

THE SAUMPFAD PATH: TRUDNER AND ALTREIER GUIDE TRAIL

This guide trail is truly special. Hikers will find information boards along the trail that give them an understanding of the nature, culture and history of the two hiking villages. You will learn more about the customs, the past and the culinary specialities. Authentic landscapes are just waiting to be explored.
